Contact Lens Mail Order Myth

The truth about those claims made by contact lens mail order houses!

Myth:

You get your contact lenses faster via mail order than you will from your doctor's office.

Truth:

At Wing Eyecare, we stock thousands of contacts in every office, which means that you can get your contacts the same day in many cases. You also get the service after the sale that you deserve. If any change is required in your prescription, we will exchange your lenses for full credit - mail order houses will not

Myth:

Mail order houses will fill your Rx as accurately as your doctor's office and will verify that the Rx is correct and current (not expired).

Truth:

Mail order houses do not regularly verify Rx's for accuracy. In fact, many expired or otherwise invalid prescriptions are filled illegally by mail order distributors. Several states have initiated class-action law suits to stop these illegal practices. In most cases, a contact lens prescription expires after 1 year. If yours is older than that, you should see your doctor for a complete eye examination before ordering more lenses. An annual eye exam will ensure not only that your prescription will be accurate, but that the health of your eyes is intact.

Myth:

Anyone can buy contact lenses from a mail order distributor for less than they can from their doctor's office.

Truth:

At Wing Eyecare, all types of contact lenses are available for prices that meet or beat mail order prices, but without the hidden charges of membership fees and shipping costs! We always guarantee to match the lowest price and provide superior service.

Myth:

Anyone can have an eye exam, then order their contacts from a mail order house.

Truth:

Without proper fitting and follow up care, no doctor can finalize and release a contact lens Rx. Therefore, your initial pair of lenses must be fit by the prescribing doctor or eyecare professional who is responsible for your follow up care and the fit of your lenses. Mail order houses are intended for refilling previously filled prescriptions, not first fittings following a new exam.
