Contact Lens Service Fees

When choosing contact lenses for your vision correction, a series of tests and follow-up care is necessary to ensure healthy enjoyment of your contacts. Following an eye examination for contact lenses, additional tests must be performed to measure the curvature of your cornea in order to ensure a proper fit. Once the contacts are on the eyes, a visual inspection is performed using a microscope. This is done to determine proper tear flow, movement, and fit.

A follow up visit (sometimes more than one) is usually necessary to inspect the health of your eyes one to two weeks following a new contact lens fit (this may not be necessary if you have been wearing a particular lens successfully and are just having your prescription updated). This follow-up visit is essential to confirm proper fit, vision, and ocular health before a contact lens prescription may be written by the doctor. It is sometimes necessary to make changes in the contacts at the time of your follow-up in order to provide optimum vision and comfort. Once these changes have been made and your visual acuity and fit have been checked, the contact lens prescription is finalized.

Our contact lens service fees were implemented to cover the additional work and time spent with each contact lens patient (as compared to a normal exam or eyeglass prescription). At Wing Eyecare, we encourage every contact lens patient to return for their follow-up care to ensure that the prescription results in the best possible visual acuity and the most comfortable fit possible. Our staff will work with you for as long as is needed to ensure your complete satisfaction with your new contact lenses.

NOTE: Depending on your type of insurance coverage, the contact lens service fees may not be covered by your plan. In that case, you will be responsible for this fee on the date of service. In certain instances, we will request the fee up front and then bill your insurance for reimbursement, which will then be sent back to you upon receipt.
